*If you're returning from a break in setting up your tournament's website:
1. Go to your tournament's URL and log in.
2. Click Administration
3. Click Events Offered.

SET UP EVENTS

Here is where you'll really start to see your tournament's website taking shape, because you'll see the events go up. We'll start out by clicking on Add Event.

This will take you to a page where you'll enter several pieces of information about each event.

The first blank we need to fill in is the abbreviation for the first event you want to enter. For example, if we're starting with C-X Debate, we'd type CX in the Abbr box. You may choose any abbreviation you like for each event. Maybe you're new to this whole tournament thing and are unsure of commonly-used abbreviations. If that's the case, you're welcome to refer to the following list to get some ideas, but you're also welcome to chose your own abbreviations according to your own taste.

Once you've decide on an abbreviation and typed it in, we'll move on to the Name box. In this box we just want to type out the name of the event.

Below that you'll see a box labeled Event Type. Click on the down arrow to the right there, and you'll see a list of choices for decsribing the event. The descriptions are fairly self-explanatory, so you'll probably know which one to choose right away.

• Individual describes any event other than debate in which individuals compete against each other.
  
• Debate (1-person) describes a debate event in which individuals compete against each other, e.g. L-D Debate.
  
• Debate (2-person) describes a debate event in which pairs compete against each other, e.g. C-X Debate.
  
• Debate (4-person) describes a debate event in which groups of 4 compete against each other.
  
• Student Congress of course describes Student Congress only.
  
• Group describes a group event, usually an acting event. (If you choose group you will then be given the opportunity to choose an acceptable range of participant numbers for each group.)
  
• Duo/Duet/Pair (2-person team) describes an event other than debate in which two people compete against other teams of two.
  

In the next box below that, labeled Patterns, we need to choose the pattern (or section, or flight) of events to which this one belongs. The choices you'll see come directly from what you entered earlier. Use the down arrow to see your choices, and click on the correct one.

In the last box, called Quota Group, we'll use the down arrow to choose the quota group to which this event belongs. Again, the choices you'll see come directy from what you entered earlier to be the quota groups for your tournament. Keep in mind the following details:

Judge Quotas

• Each quota represents one judge required to be at the tournament. (If one judge can cover multiple events, then assign the same quota to each of those events.)
• Even if no judge is required, you still need to assign a quota that says so.
• Just because a quota is called "Individual Events", it doesn't mean that it can't include events like Duet Acting and Congress.

Now, the last step to this process is to look over at the list of choices to the right there entitled Event Options. You may check any of the five boxes that apply to this event.

Event Options

• Checking Waiting List indicates that you want coaches to be able to enter the names of students to be placed on a waiting list once the initial entry limit is reached.
• Checking Track Selections indicates that you want coaches to enter the names and ISBN numbers of the selections from which their students will be reading. This is most commonly used for Poetry/Prose/Humorous/Dramatic-type events.
• Checking Track Titles indicates that you want coaches to be able to enter the titles only of the selections their students have chosen. This feature is most commonly used for Oratory when a tournament requires students to turn in copies of their pieces before the tournament.
• Checking Extemp indicates that the event has both a "draw" time (in a preparation area) and a "speaking" time (in a competition room). For example, DX and IX typically have a 30 minute draw time preceding each speaker's performance. Extemp Commentary typically has a 20 minute draw time prior to speaking. DX, IX and EC are all "extemp" events. Impromptu doesn't really qualify as "extemp"; the speaker typically draws and speaks in the competition room.
• Checking Auto Suspend tells the website to automatically stop registration for the event when it reaches capacity (if you're using limits).

Once you've made any appropriate selections from this list, you're ready to click Save. You will then be returned to the prevous page. One event down! Now we'll simply repeat that process for all the remaining events in your tournament.

Now that you have an idea of what you want to do, here's a quick review of how to
Add Events:

1. Click Add Event.
2. Type an abbreviation for the event.
3. Type the title of the event.
4. Select the appropriate Event Type.
5. Choose the appropriate Pattern.
6. Choose the appropriate Quota Group.
7. Click the boxes of any appropriate Event Options from the list on the right.
8. Click Save.

After you've entered all of your tournaments' events and clicked Save for the last time, you should be back at the page that lists each of your tournament's Patterns, Judge Quotas, and Events.
