WELCOME:We cordially invite you to our Thunder Basin Bolt Bash Speech and DebateTournament to be held February 14 & 15, 2020.Please read through the entire invitation as it contains important information.If you have any questions feel free to contact us at (605) 920-8663 or (307) 299-8195. Please use the JOT software for any drops prior to 9am on Friday, the 14th. After 9am the drop fee increases to $25.00 per student per event and those late drops will need to be called in.
ENTRY LIMITS / DOUBLING:Doubling in the same pattern will only be allowed for interp events and oratory and informative. At the start we will allow 24 entries that you may split up as you wish. PF and Duet will count as ONE entry. Additional entries will be accepted as we have room and on a 1st come 1st served basis. So please use the wait-list option when registering. We are normally able to take nearly all of the wait-list names.
Please note that we will offer CX debate if we have a minimum of four entries. TOPICS / CONGRESS LEGISLATION:The LD topic used will be the NSDA January/February choice.PF will debate the NSDA February topic. This tournament will be running the Wyoming Docket E. If you are from a school outside Wyoming, Please submit congress legislation to firstname.lastname@example.org by 5 pm on Friday, February 7 for inclusion on the JOT website. Congress participants should bring with them a printed copy of all the legislation posted online. Paper copies will not be provided at the tournament.
WHO GETS AWARDS:Awards will be given to the top six places in all IE's.In congress, the top six speakers will receive awards.In the debates, all semifinalists and/or finalists will receive awards.Sweepstakes trophies will be given for the top two places in 4A, 3A, and 1A/2A. Entry fees will be $9 per single entry and $14 for team entries.
DEADLINES:Please complete your preliminary registration by Wednesday, January 29th, 2020. Please make all of your changes by . It is very important that you visit the website frequently to confirm and update your entries as needed. Final billing will be calculated at on the 13th. After that time only drops will be accepted with no refunds for the dropped entries. Please drop students on JOT through 9am on Friday, the 14th at which time the website will be closed. Drops after 9am on Friday the 14th are $25.00 each + entry fee. Please use the JOT software for any drops prior to 9am on Friday. Unfortunately, there will be no refunds/credits for entry fees, even for schools that choose to drop their entire team, after 5 P.M. on February 13th.
FOOD/MEALS: We will offer the Friday evening meal and the Saturday lunch meal. See the food/meal tab for more information.
COACH JUDGING:We do not plan to use coaches as our primary means of covering rounds.But please know that a few rounds may need to be covered here and there. We will assign a few rounds for you to "stand by". It is our plan that this will be a nice, relaxing, stress free weekend.
DECORUM & GENERAL JUDGING: First and foremost, Thunder Basin is a new high school, with extensive remodeling and construction that has occured and we are very proud of the condition of our school. We would like to keep it that way, so please remind your students that food and drink is not allowed outside of the commons area and they need to clean up after themselves.We ask that all students be on their best behavior during the entire tournament, including down time between rounds.
