2019 Rock Springs High School
November 15-16, 2019
The Rock Springs High School Speech and Debate Team welcomes you to our Tiger Classic November 15th and 16th @Rock Springs High School. We offer a novice/varsity tournament, and we're giving out lots of very shiny trophies, so we hope you come!
* Registration opens October 10th. Changes may be made to entries until 30 minutes before the tournament begins... although making them sooner if possible is good manners.
*We are offering all events (including impromptu) for both novice and varsity except Big Questions, which is open. Novice and varsity Congress are combined for preliminary sessions; assuming adequate numbers, novice congress competitors will break into their very own super congress. (Email Stephanie with novice congress names so we know who they are!)
*We are offering Big Questions Debate in the "HOPE" pattern, which we will single-flight to keep the tournament running smoothly. Competitors may enter with or without a partner. We will also allow BQ competitors to double-enter in that pattern (unless they're entered in Congress or extemp - sorry) BUT they MUST go to their BQ round first (we will prioritize assigning judges for those rounds, get those ballots out first, etc. so they start on time).
*The LD topic for both varsity and novice will be the November/December NSDA topic.
*The PF topic for both varsity and novice will be the November/December NSDA topic
---We will use the NSDA pilot rules for PF
***Please see the "Novice CX" tab for novice case list
* Competition starts on Friday, November 15th at 3:15pm.
* We are offering a Superburrito! dinner on Friday night, with a giant made-to-order burrito, chips and salsa, dessert and drink for $8 each. Saturday for lunch we are offering a 6" ham or turkey sub sandwich, chips, a cookie, veggies (if they want them) and bottle of water for $7/meal. Please email a headcount to Stephanie (firstname.lastname@example.org) for meal orders by 5pm Monday, November 11th. Concessions will also be available. We have very good concessions.
* You are encouraged to bring judges with you! Please enter judges in the "judge" tab when you enter - let us know which varsity are able to judge novice rounds (or send them to judging table as they are available).
First and second place sweepstakes trophies will be awarded in 4A, 3A, 1A/2A.
First through third place (semifinals in debate) in each event, varsity and novice divisions, will receive trophies.
Fourth through sixth place finishers will receive ribbons.
We will award Something Fun to the top speaker in each debate event.
The Triple Threat Award - we give very tall, shiny "individual sweepstakes" aka "triple threat" trophies to the top SIX novice and top SIX varsity competitors who enter at least three events and score the most points in preliminary rounds. (If an individual enters more than three events, we will use the points from that person's best three events.)
Our priority is to run a positive, punctual tournament, and we are excited to host you!
