We want to welcome you to the Palestine High School UIL invitational meet held on Jan. 25-26, 2019. We have a wonderful commons area for the students to hang out in and plenty of space for the events. We are using the UIL Set A contest. Please consider this when you enter, and enter students who have not yet taken the Set A test. The contests will not follow the conflict pattern. You must supply a grader or a judge for every event you enter. Prose & Poetry and extemp will have 2 rounds guaranteed. You must provide 1 judge for every 6 IE entries. Uncovered judges will be $125, but we prefer a judge. Finals will be held if necessary. There will be a $50 charge for an uncovered Computer Apps judge.
CX and LD will be held on Friday night to allow more cross entries for those students. Schools must provide 1 judge for every 2 CX, and every 4 LD entries. Uncovered debate judges will be $125, but we prefer a judge. Debate will start at 4:15 in order to finish shortly after 9 PM. The entry fee for LD is $20 and $30 for CX.
A concession stand is available for students and there are several eating places within walking distance. Students need to be reminded that no food or drink is allowed outside the commons area.
Registration deadline is 5 pm Wednesday, Jan. 23. Drops need to be made by 5 pm Thursday, Jan. 24. After that time, the fee will be charged for all entries. All individual entries are $10 each. Please make checks out to PHS UIL Academics.
Journalism and Ready Writing may use PHS school computers or handwrite their entries. Spelling will be computerized so competitors need to bring headphones.
Please enter at www.joyoftournaments.com. The contest director is Kay Stroud and she can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 903-724-2820.
We hope to see you on January 19-20!
