Clear Creek High School

UIL Academic Invitational (Set B)

February 16, 2019

Clear Creek High School is pleased to announce it will be hosting a UIL Academic Invitational that will include all academic and speaking events, including Computer Science hands-on but excluding CX and LD Debate. The competition will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019.

Materials

We will use UIL Invitational B materials, except for Spelling & Vocabulary, for which we will use third-party materials. (The UIL store does not provide Spelling & Vocabulary materials for invitationals.)

Computers

Students competing in Computer Applications and Computer Science Hands-On will need to bring their own computers and printers.

Schedule

Check attached schedule carefully. We intend to start all events on time.

Registration

We will be using http://joyoftournaments.com for registration. You can find us by scrolling down to February 16 and looking for “Clear Creek HS UIL Inv.” One person (generally the UIL coordinator) will need to create a login in order to register your school. The only way to register is through this website.

Deadline

The entry deadline is Wednesday, February 13 at 5pm. We appreciate early registration so we can best meet the needs of all teams.

Fees

All events will be $10 per entry. Drops after the deadline will result in the forfeit of the entry fee.

ENTRY LIMITS

We will begin registration not intending to limit entries in most events. However, we may have to close registration of some events if the numbers get too large. Schools may enter up to two teams in Computer Science hands-on.

Payment

Checks should be made out to Clear Creek High School

Facilities

The events will be spread throughout our school’s various pods. (See attached maps.) The main cafeteria may be utilized by students between events. The Library will serve as homebase, tab room, registration, and the hospitality room for coaches and judges.

Food

We will have a concession stand in our cafeteria where students can purchase various snacks and/or lunch.

Judging

We will have our own judges for Ready Writing, Journalism events, and certain speech/debate events.

In order for the meet to run smoothly, we ask that each school provide one judge for every six competitors or portion thereof in extemp and interp.  Because our pool of judges to draw from is limited, schools must provide judges in order to participate in the tournament. A fee of $25 will be assessed to schools for each judge not provided as described above.

To expedite awards and to stay on schedule coaches or sponsors are expected to help grading/scoring in all other events in which you have entries.

Awards

The top six individuals in each event will receive awards. The top two teams in events with teams will also receive awards. The top students in Biology, Physics, and Chemistry will receive awards as well.
