UIL Academic Invitational (Set B)

February 15, 2020

 

Clear Creek High School is pleased to announce it will be hosting a UIL Academic Invitational that will include all UIL Academic events, including Computer Science hands-on. We will be excluding Speech and Debate events due to ongoing TFA tournaments. This competition will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Clear Creek High School in League City, Texas.


Materials

We will use UIL Invitational B materials, except for Spelling & Vocabulary, for which we will use third-party materials. (The UIL store does not provide Spelling & Vocabulary materials for invitationals.)

 

Computers

Students competing in Computer Applications and Computer Science Hands-On will need to bring their own computers and printers.

 

Schedule

Check attached schedule carefully. We intend to start all events at their designated time.

 

Registration

We will be using http://joyoftournaments.com for registration. You can find us by scrolling down to February 15 and looking for “Clear Creek HS UIL Inv.” One person (generally the UIL coordinator) will need to create a login in order to register your school. The only way to register is through this website. Once you register add students (manage squad) then under your school registration add student to the event they want to compete in.  Email me John Lewallen-jlewalle@ccisd.net or Brian Darby- bdarby@ccisd.net at Creek or talk to your debate coach if you need assistance with joy.

 

Deadline

The entry deadline is Wednesday, February 12th at 5pm. We appreciate early registration so we can best meet the needs of all teams.  

 

Fees

All events will be $10 per entry. Drops after the deadline will result in the forfeit of the entry fee. 

 

ENTRY LIMITS

We will begin registration not intending to limit entries in most events. However, we may have to close registration of some events if the numbers get too large. Schools may enter up to two teams in Computer Science hands-on.

Facilities

The events will be spread throughout our school’s various pods. (See attached maps.) The main cafeteria may be utilized by students between events with concessions. The Library will serve as homebase, tab room, registration, and the hospitality room for coaches and judges.

 

Food

We will have a concessions in our cafeteria where students can purchase various snacks and/or lunch.

Their are also many local food options close to the school 

 

Judging and Grading

We will have contract judges for the Ready Writing event and all Journalism events.

In order for the meet to run smoothly, we ask that if possible, participating coaches/sponsors help with grading/scoring events upon their completion.


Awards

We want to recognize the achievements of our students with the understanding that this is an invitational meet. Awards will be provided but simple. The top three individuals in each event will receive awards. The top team in each team event will also receive awards. The top student in Biology, Physics, and Chemistry will receive awards as well.
