“Tournament that Teaches”

          Burnet High School Speech & Debate cordially invites you to attend the “Tournament that Teaches” at Burnet High School on Saturday, October 20, 2018.   {Burnet is located approximately 60 miles northwest of Austin.  The physical address 1000 The Green Mile, Burnet, TX 78611.}

         The Tournament that Teaches offers novice students unique educational sessions, debate briefs, interp selections, extemp files, and practice rounds. A novice is anyone in his or her first year of competition in the event.   However, please be aware that some novices may have attended camps this summer. The novice division is created to stress the educational value, not the competition. Because we are committed to providing a quality tournament experience,  We have created a unique schedule that allows for students to participate in the forensic experience.  Please be sure to study the schedule carefully, and do not hesitate to contact us if you have questions.

     Varsity LD and CX competitors will receive FOUR rounds. Varsity Extemp will have two rounds.  There will be no varsity Oral Interpretation or varsity Congerss competition.
Cases and files for all events will be posted on this site approximately 2 weeks prior to tournament date.
         Coaches are welcome to attend educational sessions, if they have fulfilled their judging obligationsTeachers attending workshops can receive professional development documentation.
