The Banquete High School Speech and Debate team would like to invite you to the 3rd Annual Bulldog Tournament on January 26, 2019, only minutes from Corpus Christi and the warm beach of South Padre Island north shore. We hope you can come to our one day tournament. We believe that such a schedule is the perfect tournament for wrapping up your TFA season, or to get started with practice for your UIL season. There will be three preliminary rounds of Policy (CX), Lincoln-Douglas (TFA & UIL), and Public Forum debates leading to elimination rounds. The tournament will host Novice Extemp, Domestic Extemp, Foreign Extemp, Original Oratory, Duet Acting, Duo Interpretation, Duet Improv, Humorous Interpretation, Dramatic Interpretation, UIL Prose, UIL Poetry, Impromptu, Program Of Interpretation (NSDA), and Informative Speaking (NSDA). Novice students are defined as students who are currently in their first year of speech with no prior forensic experience as the start of the current school year.
Registration will be begin at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 26th since it is a one day tournament. Some rounds will start at 7:30 a.m. We will be offering all the standard TFA events as well as UIL LD, poetry and prose. For those not advancing in poetry and prose we will offer a consolation round (both categories will be used). Again, the previous sentence is for non-advancing poetry and prose contestants. We hope this provides students a chance to use their other selection and get more practice and a different critique.
The deadline for registration is 4pm on Tuesday, January 22nd and the deadline for drops starts on Tuesday, January 22 (at 4pm). Any drops occurring after that time will result in loss of entry fees. After Friday at 4pm all drop fees will result in a loss of entry fee plus $50 per student dropped, or no show the day of the tournament. We will panel all TFA qualifying events starting at the appropriate elimination round level. We will do our best to not use and abuse our coaches, but please be prepared to help judge if necessary. If you are bringing a judge with you, please provide us with that information when you register your squad online.
DEBATERS WILL ONLY BE ALLOWED TO CROSS ENTER IN PATTERN “B” INDIVIDUAL EVENTS.
ALL INDIVIDUAL EVENT CROSS ENTRIES ARE LIMITED TO THREE PER CATEGORY
EXTEMPERS WILL ONLY BE ALLOWED TO ENTER ONE EXTEMP CONTEST.
PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL STUDENTS HAVE BOTH UIL CATEGORY A and B FOR UIL PROSE AND POETRY
