The Banquete High School Speech and Debate team would like to invite you to the 4th Annual Bulldog Tournament on January 25, 2020, only minutes from Corpus Christi and the warm beach of South Padre Island north shore. We hope you can come to our one day tournament. We believe that such a schedule is the perfect tournament for wrapping up your TFA season, and/or participating for your NIETOC bids. There will be three preliminary rounds of Policy (CX) and Lincoln-Douglas (UIL) leading to elimination rounds. The tournament will host ALL NIETOC events: Domestic Extemp, Foreign Extemp, Original Oratory, Duet Acting, Duo Interpretation, Duet Improv, Humorous Interpretation, Dramatic Interpretation, Program Of Interpretation (NSDA), and Informative Speaking (NSDA). We will also offer Poetry and Prose. We encourage you to practice your UIL interp pieces for these events but will not hold competitors to these requirements.
WE WILL BE USING THE UIL SPRING 2020 TOPIC FOR TFA LD POINT QUALIFICATIONS. PLEASE BE MINDFUL OF THIS WHEN REGISTERING FOR THE TOURNAMENT.
Registration will be begin at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 25th since it is a one day tournament. All registration will be held at the High School. We will have shuttle buses to help debaters in extemp travel back and forth from the elementary school. EXTEMP DRAW will start at 7:30 a.m. We will be offering all the standard TFA events as well.
The deadline for registration is 4pm on Wednesday, January 22nd and the deadline for drops starts on Wednesday, January 22 (at 4pm). Any drops occurring after that time will result in loss of entry fees. After Friday at 4pm all drop fees will result in a loss of entry fee plus $50 per student dropped, or no show the day of the tournament. We will panel all TFA & NIETOC qualifying events starting at the appropriate elimination round level. We will do our best to not use and abuse our coaches, but please be prepared to help judge if necessary. If you are bringing a judge with you, please provide us with that information when you register your squad online.
LD DEBATERS WILL ONLY BE ALLOWED TO CROSS ENTER IN ONE EXTEMP CONTEST.
ALL INDIVIDUAL EVENT CROSS ENTRIES ARE LIMITED TO THREE PER CATEGORY
EXTEMPERS WILL ONLY BE ALLOWED TO ENTER ONE EXTEMP CONTEST.
CX DEBATERS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO ENTER IN ANY OTHER EVENT.
CROSS-ENTER AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION/RISK
We will be hosting events at two different campuses. Debate will be held at the Elementary school and ALL IE events will be at the High School.
A hospitality room will be provided for judges and coaches and there will be a full concession stand available for students to purchase meals and snacks. We plan on offering Chick-Fil-A sandwiches available in our concession stand.
