Welcome to the Central Florida Debate Initiative!
All member schools of the Central Florida Debate Initiative are cordially invited to participate in our tournaments! The next tournament will take place Saturday, Nov 9, 2019 at West Orange School.
Registration: We offer tournaments once a month. Saturday tournamnets are open to middle school, novice, and varsity competition. Registration for each tournament will be on this website. No e-mail registration will be accepted. New coaches will need to visit this website and set up a user name for their account prior to registering. If you need help setting up your JOT account, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org . Coaches should NOT give access to the website to their students. Registration must be completed by the coach on the JOT account.
Registration is due Monday, November 4 by 6PM. If you drop an entry after this deadline, the entry fee is still owed. If you drop an entry between Nov 5-7, you will incur a fee of the entry fee and $2 penalty per student. Drops after noon on Nov 8will incur a $25 per student drop fee as well as forfeiture of the entry fee. Please plan ahead!
Fees are used to pay for the registration website and tabulation software, awards and office supplies to run the tournament.
At the tournament, coaches will complete final registration (payment of fees and distribution of schematics and judge assignments)between 7:45-8AM. Please do not be late! Final registration is NOT the place to make changes. Please alert the tournament directors (Beth or Tara) prior to final registration if you must make changes.
Schedule: Please plan to arrive at West Orange HS between 7:30-7:45AM. Students should report to the cafeteria. Judges should report to the judge lounge. Posting and judge call will happen in those locations. Rounds will begin at 8:30AM. We will have three rounds of competition with a short break in-between followed by an awards ceremony. We hope to finish by 1:30PM.
Definition of a Novice: A novice is a student who has competed in no more than 2 tournaments the previous school year regardless of the event.
Adult Supervision: The adult coach designated by each school must be present for the entire tournament. In addition, all parent volunteers should be cleared through their specific county's volunteer application process.
