2018 SWSDI Novice Tournament
Dates: 9/22/2018

The directors of Southwest Speech and Debate Institute would like to invite you to  a novice tournament (hereafter known as SWSDINT), being held at Hamilton High School on Saturday, September 22nd.  To be eligible for this tournament, a student should not have ever competed in that particular event before (in the case of debate) and ideally has a year or less experience, overall.

In an effort to bring the most enriching experience possible, tournament directors would like to waive all entry fees for any SWSDI alumni attending this tournament.

Definition of Novice:  Students new to that event -- Ideally within their first year of high school competition --this tournament is for high school competitors only.  Because of AIA requirements, we are unable to offer competition for Middle School students.

Any high school senior that has competed for at least two years may judge at this tournament.

We’ll be maximizing the benefits for students and observers by offering 4 rounds in each of the Individual Events, 6 rounds of Lincoln Douglas and Public Forum, and 4 rounds of policy (5 if we can squeeze them in!).

We will use the Novice LD topic on Civil Disobedience.

We look forward to seeing you there!
