Lincoln-Douglas Debate                Novice CX (if we have 4 entries by Feb. 10)*

Student Congress (House)           Student Congress (Senate)

Entry fees are $7.00 per student/per event ($14.00 for duos and debate teams).

Entries are generally limited to 5 per event, but we are flexible, so let us know if you need more in certain events.  For several reasons (limited judging pool, similar rules at State and District competitions), we will NOT allow  doubling within the pattern. Students particpating in extemp and a 'D' round event should be aware that they may not have all thirty minutes of speech prep time.

NOTE:    If you are planning to attend, please enter some token entries by February 5.

Preliminary entries are due on February 10 .  Final entries are due by 4:00 p.m. on Feb. 16 .  We will calculate fees Friday morning; we are not assessing drop fees as we understand that gets too problematic, so please don’t be abusive with drops/shuffling.

We will complete four rounds of preliminary competition and drop the low score before determining advancement.

L/D Topic will be the March/April topic:  In the United States, the principle of jury nullification is a just check on government.

Public Forum Debate will use the March topicResolved: Affirmative action to promote equal opportunity in the United States is justified.

The policy debate topic is Resolved:The United States federal government should substantially increase social services for persons living in poverty in the United States. .

We will award trophies to the top three finishers in each event and certificates to the remaining finalists.

Sweepstakes trophies will be awarded to the top team scores in three different school enrollment-based catagories.

We have an excellent pool of judges and are offering training to the judges the week prior to the tournament.  However, all accompanying judges are welcome.

*Any team bringing novice policy teams must supply one judge for the NCX rounds for each novice team entered from their school.
