2018 Newcastle High School Tournament
Dates: 2/9/2018 - 2/10/2018

Dear Coaches,

The Newcastle High School Forensics Team would like to invite you to the Newcastle High School “Dogie Roundup.” This year’s tournament will be held the 9th and 10th of February 2018. Registration and additional tournament information is at the Joy of Tournaments web site (www.joyoftournaments.com).

There is no school that day so registration will be from 11:00 am – 11:45 am. The tournament will begin at 12:00 pm.

The tournament will consist of four preliminary rounds for the HOPE pattern and the D pattern, a semifinals, and a finals round.  If need be there will be quarter finals for debate. The HOPE pattern will consist of Humor, Poetry, Oratory, Extemporaneous, and Student Congress. The D pattern will consist of CX, LD, PF, Student Congress, Duet, and Drama. All events are considered varsity. Plaques will be awarded for the top three places in each event.

Doubling within the pattern will be allowed (at the competitor's own risk) with the exception of CX, LD, nd PF

Student Congress Note: Please submit student congress legislation to Michael Alexander through email (alexanderm@wcsd1.org) no later than January 25th so that legislation can be posted for all teams

It will be a great help if preliminary entries could be entered by February 1st. The website registration will close Wednesday, Febuary 7th. Only drops will be allowed after that time and may be done via email.

Please take note that most of our judges will be lay judges. We appreciate the fact that our judges take time out of their schedules to volunteer and do our team a favor every year. We hope that you will keep this in mind and remember that without them our meet would not be possible. We would also like you to keep in mind that we sometimes have a shortage in judges, so any extra help in the judging area is welcome.

Thank you,

Michael Alexander
