Whitesboro High School
Bearcat UIL Speech Invitational
October 7, 2017
September 1, 2017
Dear UIL Academic Coordinator and Speech Coach:
Whitesboro High School is excited about hosting our inaugural Fall BEARCAT INVITATIONAL UIL Speech tournament on Saturday, October 7, 2017. We will be hosting all seven UIL sanctioned speech events: Poetry, Prose, Cross Examination Debate, Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Congressional Debate, and Informative and Persuasive Speaking. UIL rules will be used in all rounds!
Students may cross-enter at their own risk; however, students may enter only ONE type of debate, ONE type of extemp, and ONE type of interp.
Judging requirements are as follows: 1 judge for every 2 CX teams or portion thereof; and 1 judge for every 2 LDers or portion thereof. 1 judge for every 1 – 10 Congressional entries or portion thereof. You must have one judge for every 6 entries in Poetry/Prose AND in Informative/Persuasive or portion thereof. (The same judge CANNOT cover all three debates--SC, CX and LD--nor may the same judge cover both interp AND extemp. You MUST have the judges with you in the numbers required—checking availability in all events--in order to enter the debate competition--or you can pay missing judges fees.
Refreshments for sponsors, graders, and judges, will be provided in the Black Box behind the cafetorium. A snack bar will be available to students throughout the day.
If there are any questions, call me at 903-249-5089. We are looking forward to having you on our campus. We anticipate a great competition for this inaugural Whitesboro High School Fall Bearcat Speech Invitational.
