Dear UIL Coordinator/Sponsors:
Looking for a tournament? Look no further than Princeton High School for the 12th Annual Spring Classic Tournament. The tournament will be held on Friday Saturday, January 9&10, 2009. For those who haven't been here before and think we are too far away, we are located 8 miles east of McKinney and 25 miles west of Greenville on Highway 380.
See New Details Below ....
Events: All UIL Events (no Ready Writing) along with HI, DI, OO and Duo. The schedule is based on the one-day Regional schedule except for DEBATE & JOURNALISM. All debate rounds will be on Friday night. There is no limit to the number of students you may enter in an event. We will be using Invitational A Material. Current Events will be an original test. We will also have 3 sessions of Student Congress, one session on Friday, and two sessions on Saturday.
LD TOPIC IS THE UIL SPRING TOPIC
District Protection: We will gladly protect districts for CX and LD, but we need to know your district members no later than noon on 1/6/09. If you do not provide the information by that deadline we will not protect your school.
Journalism – This year we are once again doing something very special. Instead of just conducting the events Bobby Hawthorne and Lori Oglesbeewill be conducting training sessions prior to each contest. The cost is $40 per student, which covers all training sessions and all 4 events.
Entry Deadline is NOON on Tuesday, January 6, 2009.
Judging Requirements: You will be required to furnish a judge for each section. You must supply a judge for each speech section in which entries are submitted. It cannot be the same person. If you have CX and LD debate entries, you must supply a judge for every two teams per event. A judging fee of $50 will be assessed for each missing judge.
Judging: Coaches will receive judging pool assignments upon registration. Failure to show for assigned judging pool will result in a $100 judging fee per no show. We apologize for this, but our tournament has become so big we are often running short on judges. SO BE SURE TO ACCURATELY ASSIGN JUDGES WHEN REGISTERING!!!!
Entry fees: $7.00 per IE entry, $6.00 per Student Congress entry, $15.00 per LD Debate & Duo entry, $30.00 per CX Debate entry.
Cross Entries: Cross entries are allowed, but students and coaches do so at their own peril. We will not hold up rounds for cross entries (other than those allowed via the UIL Conflict Pattern)
Awards: Medals for 1st – 6th. Math events will be divided into big & small school divisions. Team trophies will be awarded for the Overall Academic Champ, Overall Speech Team, Sweepstakes and Runner-up trophies.
Drops: Unless called in prior to 6:30 am all debate drops on the day of the meet will result in a drop fee of $50.00 plus the loss of your entry fee. All others will result in lost of entry fees.
Late Entries: Entries after Tuesday, January 6 will be $10.00 per IE entry, $25.00 for LD, and $40.00 for CX Debate.
If any questions arise please call 469-952-5400 dial 1 then ext 2953.
