IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN JUDGING PLEASE E-MAIL AT RANDRADE@JUDSONISD.ORG
The Judson Forensics Team is proud to host its 1st speech tournament and we would like for you to attend. With Valentine's behind us some of us hearbroken debaters have an eye toward state competition and in the spirit of breaking rounds and hearts we offer this tournament which is scheduled for Saturday, February 18, at the high school campus. The team is excited about the contest and looks forward to seeing all of you.
Judson Forensics will offer the following UIL speaking events: Prose, Poetry, Informative Speaking, Persuasive Speaking, LD Debate and CX Debate. For those TFA teams looking for a Practice PF before TFA State you can debate the Jan/Feb 2017 topic at this tournament . UIL rules and time limits will be followed in all events. LD will use the Spring UIL topic. CX will debate the China topic.
This year we are guaranteeing two rounds to contestants in extemp and three rounds in CX, LD & PF. CX debate can cross enter at their own risk.
Awards will be given to the top six finishers in each of the individual events; in debate, the top four finishers will be given awards. Sweepstakes awards will be given to the highest-ranking speech club. The UIL point system will be used to determine those winners; PF rankings will be separate since it not a UIL event.
The deadline for all entries is Friday, February 10 , 2017. The drop date is also February 10 and no entries will be accepted after Wednesday, February 15, 2017. Please note that LD Debate and CX Debate will break to Quarters (unless their are a smaller number of contestants that warrant going to semis). Also, registration the day of the tournament ends at 8:00 am and competition begins at 8:15 am. Debate teams not registered by 8:00 am will not be able to compete in Round 1 and will be given a bye-loss. To ensure efficiency of the tournament, it is very important that we start on time. We will escelerate rounds where necessary. Thank you for understanding.
See you "Hearbreakers" on February 18!
