China Spring’s Cougar Classic may be the place for you on Saturday, November 7, 2009. China Spring is located in Central Texas close to Waco and a stone’s throw to large areas nearby. We will be offering CX, L-D, and Public Forum debate, Prose & Poetry as well as Informative & Persuasive speaking. Prose and Poetry contestants will be reading both UIL pieces in the prelims (Round 1 & 2). We will draw to see which category is used for Semis and Finals. (While we won't be checking documentation, we will have some experienced people you can ask/practice with on documentation check if you wish.) Deadline for registering is 3:30 PM on Monday, November 2, 2009. Judging Requirements: You will be required to furnish a judge for each contest. Your judge for other contests cannot be the same person. (You may use the same judge that you had in debate or interp for extemp, but you cannot cross-apply judges between debate and prose & poetry.) If you have CX L-D, and Public Forum entries, you must supply a judge for every two teams per event. Schools must provide the necessary judges or their students will not be allowed to compete. We regret that we do not have a judging pool from which to draw. However, if you will let us know that you need to hire judges, we will try to put you in contact with other schools that may have "extras."
For online registration, the entry fees will be: $8.00 per IE entry, $15.00 per L-D Debate entry, $30.00 per CX Debate entry, and $20 per Public Forum Debate entry. If you mail in your entries, the fees will be: $10.00 per IE entry, $25.00 per L-D Debate entry, $40.00 per CX Debate entry, and $30 per Public Forum Debate entry. (The latter fees also apply if you register after the deadline.) Awards: 1st – 6th. We will also award Top speakers in debate. Speech & Debate Drops: IE drops on the day of the meet will result in the loss of your entry fee. All debate drops on the day of the meet will result in a drop fee of $50.00 plus the loss of your entry fee. Late Entries: Entries after 3:30 PM on Monday, November 2, will be $10.00 per IE entry, $25.00 per L-D Debate entry, $40.00 per CX Debate entry, and $30 per Public Forum Debate entry.
