Important Location Information

This year's meet will be held at Burleson High School, located at 100 Elk Drive, Burleson, TX, 76028.  If you attended last year, this is a change!

Registration and Payment Info

The deadline for registration is noon on Wednesday, November 30. Entry fees are nonrefundable after that date; substitutions are allowed.  Cross entries are at your own risk.  Students competiting in LD or CX may not enter any other events.  

Fees are $10 for each academic entry, $15 for individual speaking events, and $25 for LD and $35 for CX. 

A check or purchase order, is acceptable in advance or on the day of the tournament. Make checks out to Burleson High School. If mailing, please send to the attention of Jana Hoover. If presenting a purchase order, the check may be sent by mail within two weeks after the tournament.

Judge/Grader Requirements

Poetry/Prose and Informative/Persuasive 1 judge required for every 6 entries (or portion thereof).  LD debate requires a judge for every 4 entries (or every portion thereof).  CX debate requires a judge for every 2 teams (or portion thereof).  A $150 fee will be applied for every uncovered judge.  Judges for CX and LD can only fulfil the requirements for LD or CX and no other events.

Entry into Journalism, Ready Writing, and Computer Applications require that a grader or $50 judge fee be provided for each event. Coaches are expected to help grade all other events.


Medals will be given out to the top 3 individual in each event.  Ribbions will be given out to places 4-6 in each event.  A trophy will be given to the top team in each event.


Math, Number Sense, Calculator, & Science contests will have 9th/10th and 11th/12th divisions for the individual competition. 

Registration Limits

Ready writing and each of the journalism events are limited to 6 entries per school.

Speaking events will close when they reach capacity. LD and CX will be limited to 4 entries per school.  A waiting list will be available and additional students will be accepted if space becomes available.


The Spelling test will be computerized.  Please bring your own headphones.

Please bring your own extension cords, power strips, etc. for events using a computer.

Each school must have a designated adult in attendance at all times.

We will not have elimination rounds for debate.  Everyone is guaranteed 4 rounds for LD and 3 rounds for CX.  LD rounds will be flighted.  We will accelerate debate rounds as we able.  The final debate rounds will be power matched.

Debaters must check in by 7:45 to avoid being dropped.


Concessions will be available for students to purchase.  A hospitality room will be provided for sponsors and bus drivers.  Please provide the number of sponsors in attendance from your school so that we may adequately prepare the hospitality room.
