TIME: Friday (Oct. 14) 3:30pm - 9:45pm, Saturday (Oct. 15) 7:45am - 4:00pm

        FRIDAY: NOVICE DIVISIONS OF:

                 Public Forum, Parlimentary, Lincoln Douglas (3 or 4 rounds)

                 (No Policy Debate)

               

 

        SATURDAY: VARSITY DIVISONS OF:

               Public Forum, Parlimentary Lincoln Douglas (5 rounds each)

               (No Policy Debate)

DIVISIONS:

There are two divisions of competition: Varsity & Novice

Novice Students are those in their first or 2nd semesters of speech competition AND 

have NOT QUALIFIED for the State or National Championships in ANY event.

JUDGES:

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH JUDGES BEFORE YOU SEND IN YOUR ENTRY.

Teams not providing enough judges will have their entry numbers dropped at the tournament beginning with the highest numbers in each category. If you just have a few entries, please inform the tournament director ahead of time to find judges. A 'NO JUDGES FEE' WILL BE CHARGED...

Varsity students may judge in the novice division at this tournament.

 

Regular adult judges are needed for the varsity division.

 

 ☑YOU WILL NEED TO PROVIDE 1 JUDGE FOR EVERY 2 ENTRIES YOU HAVE IN EACH DIVISION!

I.E.:  3 novice LD, 2 novice policy = 5 total novice entries which requires 3 judges for your novice entry.  (novice judges on Friday can be your varsity students).

 

I.E.:  3 varsity LD, 5 varsity parli, 3 varsity pufo = 11 total varsity entries which requires 6 adult (high school gradute) judges.

PLEASE NOTE: Judges MUST be checked in by 3:30pm on Friday and 7:45am on Saturday or students will be dropped from round 1. ☢

FEES:       $5 per Novice LD Entry; $8 for Novice PuFo/Parli

                   $8 per Varsity LD Entry; $15 for Varsity PuFo/Parli  

                   FEES will be calculated based on final joyoftournaments fee sheet on 10/7.                         Please make checks payable to Alhambra High School Speech Team 

                   and bring your payment with you to the tournament. (Fees may change  

                       depending on custodial fees for the school.)

 

TOPICS:  

                      LD: Sept/Oct topic (available at www.nflonline.org)

                      Public Forum: October topic (available at www.nflonline.org)
                      VARSITY Parli: Topics will be posted 30 minutes prior to the beginning of
                      each round on the Cafeteria windows.

              

NOVICE Parli Topics: In an effort to provide students with the maximum number  of rounds, we will post the Novice Parli Topics 72 hours prior to the start of competition on this site, under the page, "NOVICE Parli Topics." As a result, there will be NO parli prep room at the tournament on Friday.  Students will be expected to have speeches prepped prior to the start of competition on Friday.

Alhambra High School Speech & Debate Team members will also be participating in this tournament.
