THE 41st ANNUAL WINTER CLASSIC December 2nd-4th, 2011THE TRADITION CONTINUES!! The administration of La Costa Canyon High School, the members of the Maverick Speech and Debate team, and I would like to invite you and your squad to attend the 41st annual San Diego Winter Classic Speech and Debate Tournament. We offer Policy, LD, Congress, Public Forum, Extemp, OPP, Impromptu, Original Oratory, Expos, HI, DI, TI, DUO and OI.
TOC QUALIFICATION INFORMATION Good News! Public Forum is now a TOC qualifier at the SEMIFINALS! Congress is now a TOC qualifier for all students making the TOP SIX! We continue to be a TOC qualifier for Policy in the FINAL Round.
NIETOC QUALIFICATION INFORMATION Good News! We now offer bids to the NIETOC in the finals round* of DI, HI, DUO and Oratory.
*Bid level is contingent on the size of the entry pool.
IMPORTANT NOTE: DEADLINE to register for Policy, Congress & LD is Wednesday, November 16th at 3:00pm (teams may be added after the deadline, depending on space availability; we'll pull entries from the waiting lists as spots become available). Registration deadline for ALL other events (including Public Forum) is Wednesday, November 3oth at 3:00pm. Note that the tournament frequently fills before the deadline, so please enter early.
In an effort to give all schools equal opportunity to enter the tournament, entries for LD will be limited to 15 per school and all IE events will be limited to 7 per school per event until November 7th. Please add all of the entries that you would like to have compete to the Joy of Tournaments website. Once the intial week has passed, all available spots will be given to waitlisted teams in the order in which they were added to the website.
We consistently offer quality competition to over 50 schools with more than 1000 competitors from four states. We will be using the same schedule as last year. IE's will now run over two days (Saturday and Sunday), and will be divided into two panels. This will allow students to triple and quadruple enter if wanted! Judges and coaches will enjoy amazing food and respectful treatment, while competitors enjoy a friendly atmosphere and a beautiful campus. AS A HIGH SCHOOL TEAM, WE UNDERSTAND WHAT MAKES A POSITIVE TOURNAMENT EXPERIENCE!!
