TORO COUNTRY CLASSIC

SPEECH AND DEBATE TEAM

November 10 - 11, 2017

 

It is our distinct pleasure to again offer the Toro Country Classic. We believe that high quality competition is the key to advancing the competitiveness of Arizona Forensics, and we hope your team will choose to attend our tournament. 

 

We are pleased to announce that the TCC is a Bid Tournament to the UK TOC Speech.

 

The 2018 UK TOC tournament will be held in Lexington, Kentucky on April 28th - 30th, 2018. It offer bids in the speech events (EX, OO, DI, HI, Duo Interp, OI (Prose/Poetry). Bids are offered at the following levels:

 

     24 or fewer entries--Top 3 receive bids.

     25 - 72 entries--All finalists receive bids

     73+ entries--All semifinalists receive bids

 

We want all competitors, coaches and judges to have the best experience possible, but we reserve the right to limit entries based on room availability and to double-flight Novice Debate events. Because of this, we ask that you get your entry in as soon as possible or some of your entries might be put on a waiting list. Additionally, if you know a competitor will not be available to compete in out rounds, please let know this at registration.

 

HIGH SCHOOL TOURNAMENT: We will offer Congressional Debate during the day on Friday, prelims of Policy Debate, L-D Debate, & Public Forum Debate on Friday afternoon/evening at followed by all remaining events and debate outrounds on Saturday.  Entering Big Question Debate is FREE!

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL TOURNAMENT: We are also offering a Middle School Tournament on Saturday. I reserve the right to collapse the events with their "like" event if the number of entries fall below 10. We will not offer PF Debate for Middle School; we will only offer Big Question Debate. Entering BQ Debate is FREE!

 

For the High School Tournament, we will present awards to the top three in the Debate events, and the top six in the Senate and the House finals and all IE and Duo events. We will also recognize the top 10 speakers in each debate division and all semi-finalists with certificates. Sweepstakes trophies will be awarded to the top three schools with entries of 18 or more and to the top 3 schools with 17 or fewer entries. Only the top 3 scoring competitors in each event will count toward sweepstakes.  Additionally, we will award an Individual Sweepstakes Award to the individual earning the most sweepstakes points for their team. To reward good writing, we will also present an award to the most outstanding piece of legislation. Criteria for this award is included in Legislative Debate section.

 

For the Middle School Tournament, we will present medals to top three in BQ and all other events with 10 entries to 12 entries and 6 medals in events with more than 12 entries.

 

While AIA Rules and Guidelines will be the foundation for the operation of this tournament, please be advised that they will not apply in all situations. We have clearly noted any diversions from the AIA rules in the event information section.
