Guy Yates West Texas A&M University Forensics Tournament

Dear Colleague:

The Members of the West Texas A&M University Forensics Team are excited to invite you to participate in the West Texas A&M University Forensics Tournament on November 22-23, 2019. The tournament will be hosted by the West Texas A&M University Forensics Team. We are looking forward to offering a fun, exciting, and CHRISTMAS themed experience for both you and your students.

We will award sweepstakes awards to the top three schools overall.  Five awards historic to this tournament will be given, and will be accompanied with a Guy Yates Scholarship after one semester of competition on the WT team. These awards and scholarships are:

  • The Award for Outstanding Debater and $100 WT Scholarship if you compete on the team.
  • The Guy P. Yates Award for Outstanding Interper and $100 WT Scholarship if you compete on the team.
  • The Outstanding Speaker Award and $100 WT Scholarship if you compete on the team.
  • The Award for Outstanding Actress or Actor for Duet Acting and $100 WT Scholarship if you compete on the team.
  • The Brent Hinkle Pentathlon Award and $100 WT Scholarship if you compete on the team.

Please use the waitlist! There will be more space because several schools will be dropping several people.

The Tournament entry Deadline is Friday, November 15th at 5pm. If you are entered you will be charged the entry fee as of 5:00 PM.  Drops after 5:00 pm will be charged an additional $10.00 nusiance fee.  Drops the day of the tournament will be double the entry fee.


Registration will be from 11:30am to 12:15pm on Friday morning, November 22, in the Fine Arts Complex Main Hallway.  If you are entering on Saturday only, you may register Sat. morning. If you should need to contact us, please contact our office at 806-651-2415. My cell phone is 806-433-8569.

We will only take 6 people to finals in events with less than 60 entries. We will take 6 people to finals in all non-TFA qualifying events. All students will get 2 rounds but we will be running a hidden semis at the time of the second round.

Entries will be cutoff when we run out of rooms. Waiting lists will be available once the limits have been reached.

Coaches should not to release ballots to students before leaving the tournament.
