2019 Port Neches-Groves HS Tournament

General Information


Prose and Poetry documentations may be electronically emailed to Fred Casio by February 13, 2019.  This will expedite documentation at registration.  If you have difficulty emailing documentation, please email for additional assistance. You may also bring documentation on Saturday.  


Substitutions may be made on the day of the contest.  It is the responsibility of the contestant to make the director of that specific event aware of the substitution.  If contestants are added notify the contest director at event check-in.

Food Service

We will provide food services in the cafeteria where contestants can purchase a variety of hot foods, snacks, drinks, etc.  

Meals for the coaches and bus drivers will be provided in the hospitality room Saturday.


Contests will be held all over the campus.  Room assignments will be posted around the building and in the cafeteria.  The cafeteria will be available for students who have finished their contests or are in-between contests.(We ask that students avoid the halls to prevent accidental contest interruptions.)

Results and Awards

Results and awards will be announced in the cafeteria as they become available.  We will award medals to the top 6 individuals. Sweepstakes points will be calculated according to the UIL Constitution and Contest Rules.

Judging and Grading

All coaches need to report for grading in non-judged events. We have hired judges for Journalism, Ready Writing, and all Speech Events

All Computer Application teams and Spelling teams MUST provide a grader.  If one is not provided, papers will not be graded and scored for the school in these events.


Computer Applications & Computer Science

Must provide their own computers, printers, etc.

Ready Writing & Journalism

Will be held in the computer labs

General Rules

1.  Vandalism of any sort will result in disqualification of the entire squad.

2.  Please keep all food and drinks in the cafeteria.

3.  We ask that you help keep the noise level down in the cafeteria.

4.  Leave classrooms and equipment the way you found them.

Port Neches-Groves ISD will not be held responsible for damage, theft, loss of property or accidents.
