NIETOC-the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions (held this year in Omaha, Nebraska)

Dear Colleagues,

You are cordially invited to attend the James E. Taylor High School Invitational Forensic Tournament on November 9-10, 2018. We are excited to be a qualifying tournament for two national tournaments including a FULL FINALS qualifier for the Congress TOC. We are also a finals bid in Public Forum and a qualifier for the Individual Events portion of the Kentucky TOC.  In addition, the Taylor tournament will be a qualifier for the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions (NIETOC), which will be held this year in Omaha.

We are also a TFA qualifying tournament and will be offer all TFA events (except WSD) as well as prose, poetry, and impromptu.  We will also offer a novice division in extemp, prose, poetry, PF, CX and LD if entry numbers warrant.  A novice for our tournament will be defined as a student in his/her first year of high school competition in the current academic school year.

The championship divisions in debate will consist of 4 preliminary rounds leading to an elimination bracket (5 rounds in Varsity Public Forum).  The novice divisions in debate will consist of  3 preliminary rounds leading to eliminations.  Our schedule this year includes 2 prelim rounds for all TOC individual events.

We have limited facilities, so it is important that you complete your entry as soon as possible.  We cannot accept entries after our facilities are full.  Entries will be accepted ONLY through the Joy of Tournaments website at www.joyoftournaments.com.  Coaches unfamiliar with TFA events and rules can access information on the TFA website at www.txfa.org.

Please note that, as space is available, novice students from the Taylor speech and debate team may be competing in the preliminary rounds in a variety of events to gain competitive experience.  Wins and losses in debate will be counted as regular contestants.  However, no Taylor students will be allowed to advance into elimination rounds in any event.

We hope to see you in November.
