Dear members of the UIL NSDA District,
On Saturday, April 6, Hallsville High School will be hosting the Big Questions national qualifier exclusively for schools in our district. Please look over guidelines for this event (under the "Details" link).
Students will need to compete individually (not with partners).
Though students who have already qualified in a main event may compete, they are not allowed to qualify to nationals in this event.
We must have at least 15 students compete (and from at least two schools) for the event to make.
One judge for every two students (or portion thereof).
Missing judge fee is $100 per judge.
Deadline to enter/drop without fees is Wednesday, April 3 at 5:00 p.m.
Students are competing as individuals, not for sweepstakes, so brackets will not be broken in outrounds.
The tournament will run on an up-down system. Debaters are eliminated after two losses.
There will be an open Tab room.
Registration will be in room B123..
Student holding will be in the cafeteria.
We will run a light concession stand - snacks and drinks only, as well as a light hospitality room.
Semis will be paneled - if we have enough judges, so will quarters. We'll hire out judges for the final round. All judges are obligated to remain one round past when their school is eliminated, please. We hope you will take advantage of the opportunity of sending one more student from our district to Nationals!
