Dear Speech & Debate Family and Friends,
The Warrior Debate Team is excited to invite you to join us for the 16th Annual Warrior Invitational. Whether you are a school that has been with us since the beginning or someone who plans to join us for the first time, we hope you will join us for a fun weekend of speech, debate, and interpretive competition. We are also humbled and honored to announce that The Warrior Invitational is a bid tournament for the 2020 NIETOC. The WARRIOR INVITATIONAL will over the following events:
DEBATE EVENTS: (Friday night prelims; break rounds on Saturday)
· Policy Debate
· Lincoln-Douglas Debate (Varsity and Novice Divisions)
· Public Forum Debate (Varsity and Novice Divisions)
· Congressional Debate (all on Friday night)
FLIGHT A EVENTS (All on Saturday)
· Prose Interpretation (Varsity and Novice Divisions)
· Impromptu Speaking
· Dramatic Interpretation
· Original Oratory
· Program of Oral Interpretation
· Duet Acting
· Supplemental Event – Expository Speaking (9th & 10th grade only)
FLIGHT B EVENTS (All on Saturday)
· Extemporaneous Speaking (Varsity and Novice Divisions)
· Poetry Interpretation (Varsity and Novice Divisions)
· Humorous Interpretation
· Declamation (9th and 10th only)
· Informative Speaking
· Duo Interpretation
· Supplemental Event – Storytelling (9th & 10th grade only)
In all events, schools may enter up to 10 entries per events except for Congressional Debate (max of 6) and the supplemental events (max of 4). A waiting list will be provided in all other events. If the tournament can accommodate those entries, they will be added to the tournament.
Students entering Debate may enter only 1 Flight A event. They may also enter 2 events in Flight B. Rules, tournament schedules, contact numbers and addresses, hotel information, and directions to the Oak Grove High School Campus are included on the website.
Our tournament is also a qualifying tournament for the MHSAA Mississippi Speech & Debate State Championship. Please refer to the “Tournament Info” Tab for information concerning that process.
