This tournament has been canceled.
Monticello High School and the University of Arkansas at Monticello are pleased to invite you and your students to the 9th annual R. David Ray Invitational Forensics Tournament to be held in Monticello, Arkansas on September 21-22, 2018. We hope that you will join us.
We will NOT be using UAM’s campus this year. All events will take place where our normal Friday night events take place. We will also be using the other campuses that surround the pond, our middle and intermediate schools.
We will offer the two musical categories again this year, so please encourage your students to sign up and sing! Group Events will be offered for workshop not trophies. Since we have had very few entries in these events, we welcome you to bring your group events at any stage of rehearsal for feedback and critiques. I am going to try and assemble a panel of adult and student surveyors so that you will receive feedback from the student population as well as coaches/adults.
Your entry fees will be payable to MHS instead of UAM this year. Please make checks out as follows:
MHS Forensics #237
Monticello High School
390 Clyde Ross Drive
Monticello, AR 71655
· Multiple Slates are welcome. We will be using squad efficiency for Sweepstakes.
· We will offer novice and varsity debate in CX, IPDA, LD, and PF if possible.
· If a student breaks to out rounds in debate and he/she is entered in IEs on Saturday, he/she may compete in both, but rounds will not be held. He/She may wish to choose one or the other.
· Students can only be entered in 4 individual events max.
o 2 entries per pattern; there are no triple entries in preliminary rounds.
All coaches are asked to stay until the final round is covered with sufficient judges. Tournament directors often need every qualified coach during the final rounds. Your students will enjoy watching the Curtain Call of some of the best performances of the day. We encourage you to stay to celebrate the performances.
Individual Events: 1 judge for every 10 entries or fraction thereof
Debate: 1 judge for every 2 debaters or fraction thereof
***Because of the size of IPDA in the past two years, we are limiting schools that do not cover their judging obligations to 10 entries. If you are incredible short, you may be contacted to limit your entry further.
There will be a $10 judge’s fee for every judging position that is uncovered.
Entry Deadline is Monday September 17, 2018 by 3:00 PM.
We will be using Joy of Tournaments for registration this year.
