Dear Speech and Debate Coaches,
The 2018 Star Valley Speech and Debate Invitational will take place February 23 - 24, 2018. The tournament will be held at Star Valley High School, 445 West Swift Creek Lane, Afton, WY. Registration will be from 1:00 – 1:30 p.m. in the Commons Area on Friday, February 23rd.
Events – We will offer all State events (CX will be offered IF schools have interest and supply qualified judges) and Impromptu. We will be debating the March LD topic, and the March PF topic. We will follow all WHSAA rules.
Entry Fees – Squad fee of $15. Individual Event, Student Congress, and LD entries will be assessed an $8.00 fee, while Duet Interpretation Teams and Public Forum Debate Teams (and CX?) will be assessed $15.00 per entry.
Entry Deadlines – Preliminary entries are due Tuesday, February 13th. Final entries are due to Star Valley High School no later than Tuesday, February 20th, 2018, at 4 p.m. We are not limiting entries at this time, and doubling is allowed. Students take full responsibility for conflicts or missed rounds.
Legislation - please submit legislation in pdf format to email@example.com by February 8th. I will then email the docket to each school.
Awards – Awards will be given to the top six places in all events. Sweepstakes awards will be given for top two places in Large and Small schools.
Judges – Coaches may be asked to judge during the course of the tournament. Accompanying judges will be GREATLY appreciated. Community judges will have the opportunity to attend workshops and will receive guidelines. If you have CX teams, you MUST provide judges.
Meals – Saturday sack lunch including sandwich, chips, cookie, fruit and drink for $6. Please use the meal link to order your meals. Meal counts will be locked on Thursday, February 15th. Our school store will also be open for snacks.
