2010 Marquette University High School Tournament
Dates: 9/17/2010 - 9/19/2010

Hospitality:

Despite our efforts to maintain low costs, we are committed to providing a friendly and comfortable environment for all of our guests. To that end, we will once again provide outstanding hospitality to students, judges, and coaches.

Student Dining: Food and beverages will be available for purchase in the cafeteria throughout the tournament. Low-cost but better-than-usual-tournament-fare meals will be offered for dinner on Friday and lunch on Saturday. Normal concession fare, snacks, and a wide variety of beverages will also be sold on both days for reasonable prices.  We will also provide complimentary breakfast for the teams that are debating on Sunday morning.

Coach/Judge Hospitality: A fully stocked lounge will be provided for coaches and judges on both Friday and Saturday. While we cannot guarantee any gourmet offerings like those provided at other tournaments (and for which we are very thankful!), we will do our best to make sure everyone has enough caffeine and calories to get them through the weekend.

Cost Saving Measures: Traveling to tournaments is getting very expensive, and we are committed to doing what we can to make things a little easier and less expensive for our guests. To that end, we promise hte following:

Internet Access: Unfortunately, MUHS still does not have wireless internet access. However, we will attempt to provide all coaches and judges with access to computers with internet connections; if you want to cut updates, download forgotten files, or just surf the net during off rounds, you are more than welcome to do so. However, we must insist that students and coaches/judges not plug-in to our school's local area network; we know that this is a pain, but it is out of our control.

Printing: To the best of our ability, we will accommodate all modest printing/copying requests from participating coaches. If you need something printed or copied, please contact one of the Webster Club students at the hospitality desk. Need to print some updates? Lost a file and need to print another copy? Need a backfile printed before an elim debate? We're glad to help. However, please don't abuse this privilege; we reserve the right to refuse excessive requests. It is our hope that other tournaments will consider providing this service to their guests.

Dollies/Carts: While we anticipate very few schools flying to our tournament, we will nonetheless do our best to provide a shared pool of dollies/carts for participating teams. If leaving a couple dollies at home will enable your squad to fit another team in the van, by all means bring the debaters and not the carts! Squads that do bring dollies are encouraged to share them with other competitors... this is an easy way for all of us to help each other save money.

Technology: If you rely on technology during the tournament, please bring a power strip, extension cord, and any other necessary equipment; (almost?) all competition rooms will have electric outlets but the tournament cannot guarantee access to power or technology. We contemplated providing some power strips and extension cords, but at this point doing so is cost-prohibitive. You've been warned: please bring what you need.
