Wharton High School Speech & Drama Tournament

Dear Colleagues,

 We would like to welcome you to our Speech Tournament that we will host on Saturday January 14th.  We will be offering extemp, prose, poetry, CX, LD, storytelling, impromptu, group improv, auditioning,  acting (duet or solo) & record mime.

REGISTRATION:

This tournament is first come first served when it comes to entries.   Registration will be through Joy of Tournaments.    Debaters are only allowed to enter prose, poetry, extemp & group improv!!!   Cross entry for non-debaters will be allowed at your own risk.  We will not hold up rounds waiting on students who are cross entered.

FEES:

The entry fee will be $30 per CX team, $20 per LD debater and $10 per entry.  Fees are due as based on the original entry.  Drop deadline is Jan 10th at 9:00 a.m. After the deadline there will be a $30 drop fee assessed in addition to the entry fee.  Drops made on the day of the tournament will be $50.  These are the fees for debate.  IE drops  after the deadline are just the loss of the original  entry fee.  Fees are to be paid on the date of the tournament.  Please do not mail checks.  Checks can be made payable to Wharton High School Speech Club

JUDGES:  please read!!!

Each school is being charged a "school fee" of $75.00.  We did lower this fee due to budget cuts; however it is neceesary to help pay for judges.   If you as the coach are willing to judge please let me know.  I will hire you at a rate of $50 for the day.  I will also be using a few upper class student judges in novice extemp, storytelling, impromptu & acting events.

Students will be held in the cafeteria!  Please make sure they know when are where their events are.  We will be on a tight schedule and it is a walk from there back to the main building.
