Westwood Winter Classic 2012
Dear Colleagues, We are happy to invite you to the Westwood Winter Classic on February 25, 2011. Westwood High School is located conveniently in Northwest Austin and is easily accessible from every direction. We offer every UIL academic event which includes the speech and debate events. We have gone to great efforts to acquire some of the best judges available in each event. Since we ultimately see this as a practice tournament for your district and state contests we allow students to double enter in prose and poetry and we allow students to enter both informative and persuasive extemporaneous speaking. Our Number Sense, Math, Calculator, and Science tests will be provided by TMSCA. Our Computer Science test is ordered from APlusCompSci. The spelling test will be from ASW Enterprises. Journalism tests will be UIL Set B. All other academic tests will be provided by HEXCO. In addition, we will provide UIL Set B material free of charge for any event that your school has entries in. UIL Set B tests for all other events will be placed with the rest of your test results so that your teams can get extra practice the week following the competition! Also, we are happy to announce that Ms. Sandra Greene will be returning to head up the tab room and Ms. Marcia Hilsabeck will be joining us as the spelling pronouncer and proctor! Students entered in policy debate may not enter any other speech event and students entered in Lincoln-Douglas debate may only enter one other speech event. We offer one of the best hospitality lounges complimentary to all sponsors and school coaches. In order to keep the tournament running on schedule we ask that students enjoy the contestants concessions offered at very reasonable prices in the cafeteria. Announcements of the results of the individual contests will be made in the cafeteria as quickly as possible after the results become verified. This “rolling announcement” should ensure the tournament runs on time. All entries must be made on Joy of Tournaments. Please no faxes or mailed entries. Proof of payment or a check must be submitted the day of the tournament. We hope to see you on February 25, 2012 for the Westwood Winter Classic!
