Dear Coaches,

 

            It is my pleasure to invite you to the Van Fall Speech and Debate Tournament. The tournament will be held on Friday, September 30 and Saturday, October 1. For many of you, this will be the first full tournament that allows you to get back into the swing of things. We will offer Cross-Examination Debate, Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Informative and Persuasive Speaking, and Prose and Poetry Interpretation. If there are enough entries, we will also offer Public Forum Debate, Congressional Debate, Humorous and Dramatic Interpretation, Duo Interpretation, and Original Oratory. Because this tournament comes at the start of the season, there will be a novice and varsity division of Cross-Examination Debate and Lincoln-Douglas Debate.

 

            Every individual event competitor will be guaranteed two rounds of competition and every debater will be guaranteed four rounds. There will be two sessions of Congressional Debate (each with its own awards), one occurring on Friday and the other on Saturday. All debate rounds will be on Saturday.
