Texas Forensic Association Qualifying Tournament

Hosted on the campus of Bel Air High School

Dear Friends,

The UTEP Forensics Program and the UTEP Texas Psi Chapter of Pi Kappa Delta National Forensics Fraternity cordially invite you to attend our Annual Texas Forensic Association (TFA) High School State Qualifying Speech & Debate Tournament on November 13-14, 2009.  This event is being offered under the auspices of the UTEP Forensics Program’s High School Speech Workshop Outreach Initiative.

For the convenience of our guests, this meet will be held on the campus of Bel Air High School, 713  Yarbrough, El Paso, TX 79915.

If you are traveling from out of town to attend our tournament, a Comfort Inn is located within walking distance from Bel Air High School at 900 N. Yarbrough, El Paso, TX 79915.  To call the Comfort Inn: (915)594-9111.

This year's tournament will host all TFA events, Student Congress and additional "fun" events for students to enter. The tournament schedule is created so that students may enter a large number of events throughout the weekend. Student Congress will be held on Friday morning.

A hospitality room will be provided for all coaches and judges. A snack bar will be available for students to purchase food both days of the tournament. Students entering Congress will have a short lunch break. Pizza and cokes will be available for purchase during the lunch break.

Entries are due Monday, November 2, 2009.  We will accept drops and changes until Thursday, November 12, 2009, at 4:00 p.m. After Thursday, all changes and drops will accrue a charge of the original fee doubled.

We hope you will join us at our tournament. This year we will use the "Joy of Tournaments" program for all sectioning and tabulation. Please meet the deadlines given for entries and drops. We look forward to seeing you and your team in November!

Sincerely,

Dr. Mary C. Trejo, Director, UTEP Forensics Program; Sponsor, Texas Psi Chapter, PKD
