Welcome to the Write Stuff: Tomball UIL Journalism meet on January 14, 2012.
This tournament is for Journalism events only and features workshops throughout the day for student journalists and advisers.
The events will include:
News Writing
Feature Writing
Editorial Writing
Headline Writing
There are also the following 30-minute workshops offered FREE to attendees.
Photography, led by Chris Matula, former photojournalist and now a medical
photographer in the Houston Medical Center. Noon.
News Writing, led by Associated Press writer Mark Babinek, 10 a.m..
Covering High School Sports, led by former Houston Post
High School Sports Editor Doug Mitchell, 1:30 p.m.
Copy Editing, led by former Palm Beach Post
assistant sports editor Melanie Fordyce, 3 p.m.
There will also be a newspaper exchange and two
roundtable discussions for advisers:
Fundraising for student publications, 12:30 p.m. (includes lunch)
Creating and maintaining a website, 2 p.m.
A snack bar will be open in the cafeteria.
Fees are $50 per school for judges (professional
journalists are judging the events) and $10 per entry.
The workshops are free for contestants and advisers.
