Mansfield Summit High School invites you to compete in the 9th Annual Spring Sensation UIL Invitational to be held on Saturday, February 25, 2012. We will be hosting the following events at our meet: Computer Application, Computer Science, Current Issues and Events, Prose Interpretation, Poetry Interpretation, Number Sense, Ready Writing, Informative and Persuasive Extemporaneous Speaking, LD Debate, Calculator Applications, Accounting, Literary Criticism, News Writing, Science, Spelling and Vocabulary, Feature Writing, Social Studies, Editorial Writing, Headline Writing, and Math. The registration deadline is Saturday February 18th.
We will use contest materials from TMSCA, ASW, A+ Computer Science, HEXCO, and MRC. Math, number sense, calculator, and science contests will divided into 9th/10th and 11th/12th grade divisions. To ensure our event runs smoothly, we will limit the total number of entries for journalism, computer applications, ready writing, and the speaking events. Please register early. We will close registration once we reach maximum capacity.
A hospitality room will be provided for coaches, graders, and drivers. Breakfast, lunch, & snacks will be served. A concession stand will be available for students to purchase food throughout the day.
Fees will be as follows: 8 dollars per student for each written event; 10 dollars per student for the extemp, prose, and poetry; and 20 dollars per students for the LD Debate. Judges are required for all events! Computer Applications, Ready Writing, Journalism, and all various debate events require knowledgeable/experienced judges. Failure to provide a debate or speech contest judge will result in a 75 dollar judge fee being imposed. This will be enforced!!!
