Individual Event Entries: Each team may enter any number of contestants in each event. Each student may enter three events per section. It is each student’s responsibility to get to rounds on time and to notify judges if that student is double or triple-entered. Students may double enter duos with different partners.
Pentathlon: To be eligible for pentathlon a student must enter at least five events (including at least one limited preparation, one interpretation, and one platform address event). The student must also be listed on the college’s entry form as a pentathlon contestant.
Novice Entries: Please tell us (via e-mail) which students should be considered 'Novice' entries. We will use the designation 'Novice' to mean a student who is participating in collegiate forensics during his/her first two semesters of involvement in the activity.
Entry Deadlines: The following entry deadlines apply:
Entry Deadline - 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 7
Drop Deadline - 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 8 (Loss of Entry Fee Incurred)
After 5:00 p.m. on September 8, a fee of twice the original entry fee is incurred.
Sections:
Section A: Extemporaneous, Persuasive, POI, CA, DI, Poetry
Section B: Impromptu, Informative, Prose, Duo, ADS
Debate: There will be six rounds of prelims and elimination rounds based upon the size of the division.
Readers' Theatre: There will be two preliminary rounds and a final round on Saturday.
Congress: There will two preliminary sessions on Sunday - and a final round. Contestants in Congress may not enter Extemporaneous Speaking at the LSU Baton Rouge portion of the contest - and may only enter one other event in Section A of the Sunday tournamennt.
Judges: Each college or university is expected to provide one qualified judge for every two debate teams entered. Judges should plan to judge one round beyond the point of elimination of their students. ALL DEBATE JUDGES WILL BE REQUIRED FOR THE FIRST ELIMINATION ROUND. However, hired judges will be available at $75.00 per uncovered team.
For individual events, each judge covers six entries. Uncovered entries require an additional judging fee of $8 per entry. ALL INDIVIDUAL EVENTS JUDGES WILL BE ASSIGNED AND/OR HELD ON STAND-BY STATUS FOR ELIMINATION ROUNDS. All judges are expected to be qualified and familiar with the event rules.
