Dear Colleagues:

Magnolia High School will be hosting the 4th Annual BULLDOG BONANZA  Speech and Debate Tournament on January 15 & 16, 2010.  We hope you will join us!  It is our goal to provide a competitive and well run tournament for all.

We are offering 4 rounds for all debate events, 4 hours of prelims and 2 hours in both Semis and Finals for Student Congress, and 2 rounds of prelims in both Duet and Duo.

Entry Limits:  Individual event entries will be limited to 10 entries per event.  Wait listed entries will be accepted beginning January 7 until we are full.  We will accept 3 entries in CX debate, 5 entries in Public Forum, and a total of 10 (varsity and novice) in LD until we are full.  It is unlikely that we will be able to accomodate any entries beyond these limits; however, we will allow a wait list for any room that becomes available.

Important NoteA full-time school employee must be present at all times or the entire squad will be disqualified (drop fees will apply).

Important Deadlines:  We will take entries until we are full; however, we suggest early entry to ensure all of your numbers are accepted.  You will be charged for your entry as of Monday, January 11, 2010.  All drops and no-shows the day of the tournament will be charged two times the original entry fee.

JUDGES:  Coaches will be asked to be on standby for 2 individual event rounds.  Coaches will, as always, be our last resort to keep the tournament running on time.  A flat judging fee of $75 will be assessed to each school entering the tournament.  Schools entering CX Debate are expected to provide 1 CX judge.  Schools entering Public Forum debate are expected to bring 1 Public Forum judge.  Schools entering either LD debate will be required to provide 1 judge for every 5 LD debaters or portion thereof.  A judge may only fill one of the school requirements.  You may buy-out of your debate judge requirements for a fee of $75 per judge; however, please remember, we want your judges, not your money!

TOPICS:

We will use the Current Topics for January 2010 for all debate events as posted on the NFL website.
