What is it?

The “Angel Workout” is a chance for your novice squad members to practice their skills with an “angel on their shoulders!” 

• Experienced coaches, judges, and varsity speakers will listen to, coach, critique, and judge novice speakers in debate, extemporaneous speaking, and oral interpretation.

• Interp and Extemp rounds will be conducted in a "workshop" format!!!

 

EVENTS:        Debate – LD and CX  (Novice and Varsity)

                        Extemp – Informative and Persuasive

                        Interp – Prose, Poetry, Humorous and Dramatic

FEES:				JUDGES*
LD	$15.00	/ Entry		1 per every 4 entries or portion thereof.
CX**	$25.00	/ Team		1 per every 2 teams or portion thereof.
IEs	$10.00	/ Entry		1 per every 6 entries or portion thereof.
SPECIAL NOTE: Make checks payable to Gainesville ISD.

 

 LOCATION:  Lindsay High School - Lindsay, TX   

*Judges are coaches, teachers, or former students who have coached or competed in the events they judge.

**All CX rounds will be judged and balloted.

 

Angels:  Each school should bring as many experienced speakers as possible to serve as angels.  “Angels”  are high school students who have at least one year experience in any of the above events.   Debate angels will “side coach” LD debaters or CX teams during debate rounds (time limits are flexible)  NOTE:  If we run short on judges, angels with experience at the regional or state level may be called upon to judge.

 

DEADLINES:  Thursday, September 29 at  3:30 p.m. 

DROPS:  After September 30 at 1:00 pm, forfiet the entry fee and $50 drop fee.  

LATE ENTRIES:  Accepted.

SCHEDULE:  Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m.  Rounds begin at 8:00 a.m.
