Welcome to the 2nd Annual La Vernia TFA Bear Brawl!

Update Note: We are going to allow students to cross-enter in 3 events in sections A and B. However because of draw students will not be allowed to cross-enter in 3 events in section A if one of the events is extemp. We will have cross-entry sheets outside the room that students will need to sign if they are cross-entered!

The La Vernia Speech and Debate Club is hosting its 2nd annual TFA speech and debate tournament and we would like for you to attend. The tournament is scheduled for Saturday, September 17th, at the high school campus. The team is excited about the contest and looks forward to seeing all of you.

 

La Vernia Speech and Debate will offer the following debate and speaking events: Prose Interpretation, Poetry Interpretation, LD Debate, CX Debate, PF Debate, Humorous, Dramatic, Duo, Duet Acting, Oratory, Congress, Foreign Extemp and US Extemp. TFA rules and time limits will be followed in all events. LD will use the September NFL topic. CX will debate the space topic. Public forum will debate the September resolution.

Awards will be given to the top six finishers in each of the individual events; in debate, the top four finishers will be given awards. Sweepstakes awards will be given to the two highest-ranking speech clubs.

 

The deadline for all entries is Monday, September 12, 2011. Please note that LD Debate, PFD and CX Debate will break to Quarters unless there is a cleaner break to semis. Also, registration the day of the tournament ends at 7:45 am and competition begins at 7:45 am. Debate teams not registered by 8:30 am will not be able to compete in Round 1 and will be given a bye-loss. To ensure efficiency of the tournament, it is very important that we start on time.
