Alief Elsik Tournament

Debate Drops on the day of the Tournament/No-Shows in Debate will be charged a $50 drop fee!
All entries/drops/changes must be made on the Joy of Tournaments website:
*Name changes are acceptable (at no charge) after initial entry is sent
*You will be charged for all initial entries!
*We are not charging an additional drop fee for Individual Events or Duet(loss of entry fee only), but please let us know of drops so that we may resection or fill slots with extra entries from other schools.
Entry Limitations Consolation Lip Sync is a solo or team event.(sweepstakes points will be awarded) Anyone eliminated by the time registration closes at 3:00 PM may enter (coaches included). You may choose to use your own music or use music provided.
IE's & Duet: Entries will be accepted on a first come, first served basis until our facility is full.
Debate: Each school is allowed to enter 10 Debate entries in CX and 10 in LD, divided as you wish between divisions.
Coaches will be scheduled to judge 3-5 rounds. Judging assignments will be given at registration.
General Tournament Information Alief Elsik High School is a completely tobacco-free campus! A school district approved adult must accompany all contestants. An official letter needs to be submitted at registration if the school's coach will not be in attendance. Coaches or approved supervisors must be in attendance at all times! We will disqualify any students not properly supervised. ANYONE CAUGHT VANDALIZING ANY PART OF THE CAMPUS WILL BE PROSECUTED. All entries count towards Sweepstakes. Awards will be given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place Sweepstakes winners and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each event. In team events, two trophies will be awarded. Consolation Lip Sync will have only one trophy (1st place). Sweepstakes points will be awarded as follows: CX: 1st place - 30 pts, 2nd place - 25 pts, 3rd place - 20 pts. Non-advancing quarterfinalist - 10 pts. Each prelim win - 1 pt. LD, Duo, and Duet: 1st place – 25 pts, 2nd place - 20 pts, 3rd place - 15 pts, Non-advancing quarterfinalist – 5 pts, Each prelim win 1 pt. All other events: 1st place – 20 pts, 2nd place – 15 pts, 3rd place -10 pts, Non-placing finalist – 5 pts. A student may enter only TWO events in each section. There is no cross-entering between Extemp divisions. A student may not enter Championship & Novice of the same event. Novice: defined at this tournament as any first year student in that particular event. We will be using the NFL September LD topic and the 08/09 NFL CX topic. There will be adult presiding officers in all rounds of Congress. In prelim rounds of Congress, the following legislation numbers will be used: in prelims 60 - 70, in Semis 50 to 59, and in finals 40 to 49.
