Invitational Spring Meet
Dear UIL Coordinators and Sponsors,
The Canton High School UIL program is pleased to announce we will be hosting our 7th annual spring tournament on Friday and Saturday, February 24th and 25th, 2012.
All UIL events will be offered. All contest materials will be from reputable vendors. In addition, we will offer NFL LD and NFL CX.
A unique feature to our tournament will be the extra rounds available to all in Interpretative and Extemporaneous Speaking. All students will compete in multiple rounds. Prose and poetry will consist of two guaranteed rounds with the competitors with the lowest sum making the third final round. Extempers will be guaranteed two rounds with one round being the “blind” finals room. The goal is to give kids as many rounds as possible to help them grow as competitors and people.
CX and UIL LD Debate will use the current UIL topics.
NFL LD will use the current NFL topic.
Prose and Poetry Interpretation will NOT require documentation. Students should bring both pieces.
Registration and Drops
Please use Joy of Tournaments to submit your entries by 3:00 on Wednesday, February 22, 2012. Drops may be made without charge until 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 23. Later drops will result in the loss of the entry fee. Any drops or no-shows on Friday or Saturday will result in the loss the entry fee X 3 in debate, x 2 in all other events.
Judging Requirements:
In order for the tournament to run smoothly, all schools must meet judging requirements or your students will not be allowed to participate. The only alternative will be for a school to pay a $75 fee for each uncovered judging assignment. We prefer to have the judges.
