Dear Colleagues:

 

Athens High School would like to invite you to the Athens Winter Classic at Athens High School.    The tournament will be held on Friday and Saturday, December 9-10, 2010.  Friday night will be rounds 1, 2 and 3 of debate.  Saturday will be debate elimination rounds and all UIL Speech and Academic events.  Saturday we also offer HI, DI,  Duo, and Congress. This is an NTDA sanctioned tournament.

 

DEADLINES:  Entries must be completed by Monday December 5th.   Drops made after Wednesday December 7th at 5:00 pm will result in the loss of your entry fee.  Drops the day of the tournament will result in a $50.00 drop fee. 

 

JUDGING:  Each school will be required to provide judges. 

            CX Debate:  One judge per two teams or part thereof

            LD Debate:  One judge per four entries or part thereof

            PFD:  One Judge per four teams or part thereof

            Speaking Events:  One judge for each 6 entries or part thereof

            Academic Contests:  Each school must supply a judge/grader for every event in which your school is entered. (Except journalism... These will be paid judges)

 

OTHER INFORMATION:

CX Debate:   Limit of a total of 60 teams

LD Debate:   Limit a total of 60 LD debaters

PFD Debate:  Limit  to be determined   

Computer Science:  No calculators will be allowed per UIL rules

Prose/Poetry:  We will not be checking documentation.

Journalism, Ready Writing, Debate may use computers as designated by UIL.  Please bring your own power strip and extension cord.

                Math Events: Math events will take the TMSCA test.

Hospitality Room:  A coaches and judges hospitality room will be provided.  Continental breakfast, a great lunch, and snacks will be served plus dinner Friday and lunch on Saturday.

 

Concession Stand:  A concession stand will be provided for students.  A variety of snack and drinks plus lunch/dinner items will be available.
