UIL Invitational Meet
February 26-27, 2010
 

The A&M Consolidated Speech and Academic Teams invite you to our annual UIL invitational meet February 26th and 27th.   

Events.  We will offer all UIL academic and speech events, except CX debate, and the TFA events of Humorous, Dramatic, Oratory and Duet.  LD begins on Friday.  All other events will be held on Saturday. 

Divisions.  For the academic events, the tournament will be divided into a small division (1A, 2A, 3A) and a large school division (4A, 5A).  Number Sense, Calculator Applications, Science, and Mathematics will be divided into 9th-10th grade and 11th-12th competitions.  The maximum number of points a school can earn in a single event is 37.  The speaking events will NOT be divided.  

Materials.  We will use third party materials.   

Judging.  Academic coaches are expected to grade.  Independent judges are hired for Ready Writing and the four Journalism contests.  There is a $10 journalism judging fee for schools entered in journalism events. Hired judges with experience in speech and debate will be used in all the speech events.  There is a $100.00 flat fee for all schools entered in the speech events.  There are no judging obligations or expectations for speech coaches. 

Hospitality.  Food will be provided for coaches, judges and bus drivers.  Food and drinks for students will be sold in the cafeteria.

ALL ENTRIES ARE DUE BY 4:30 P.M. ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 2010. 

Academic events:                                     $10.00 per entry

Individual speech events:                       $10.00 per entry
LD and Duet:                                             $15.00 per entry

Journalism judging fee:                          $10.00 per school with journalism entries
Speech judging fees:                              $100.00 per school with speech entries

 

Once your school is entered, you are obligated for all fees.  Drops made after 4:30 pm

on Friday, February 19, 2010, will result in loss of entry fee.  Speech no-shows

and drops made on the day of the contest will result in double entry fees.
