TOP O’ TEXAS TOURNAMENT

· All UIL events (except debate) will be offered.

· UIL conflict pattern will be followed. Therefore, most speech competitors may not cross-enter in academics. Consult the conflict pattern and schedule for exceptions. It is the responsibility of their coaches to ensure that students are not entered in conflicting events.

· Tests, topics, prompts, etc. will come from recognized outside vendors.

· Computer science contest will be hands-on as well as written. There is a limit of 25 teams for this competition. Written computer science entries are not limited.

· UIL event guidelines will apply.

We will have 9/10 divisions in math, number sense, calculator applications, science and
READY WRITING!!! These winners will unfortunately not be eligible for scholarships nor
will their points count toward the sweepstakes, but we believe it's a good time for them
to "try their wings" against their own ages. We are doing the 9/10 ready writing contest
as an experiment since this event is daunting for the younger ones. I hope you all agree
and bring some to participate.

· Trophies, medals, and ribbons will be awarded. FIRST PLACE WINNERS IN EACH OF THE CONTESTS WILL RECEIVE A SCHOLARSHIP WHICH WILL BE SENT TO THEIR ACADEMIC UIL COORDINATOR TO BE DISBURSED TO THEM. WE ARE SORRY THAT WE ARE UNABLE AT THIS TIME TO ALSO AWARD THE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR MATH, NUMBER SENSE, CALCULATOR, READY WRITING, AND SCIENCE 9/10 DIVISIONS.

· We will not divide into large and small school divisions. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please don’t let this be a deterrent to your attending our tournament because we all know that brains are not restricted to any size school. It is our hope that a high level of competition will be present, helping all of us to know how much work we have to do before district.
