Dear Director of Forensics:
The Monticello Forensic Society cordially invites you and your team to participate in the 21st Annual Dr. Robert J. Kaiser Debate Invitational. This year’s event will be scheduled for Friday, October 10th and Saturday, October 11th, 2008. It promises to be very competitive for your debaters early in the season. It has been selected as a Semifinals TOC qualifier in Lincoln-Douglas Debate for the 2009 Tournament of Champions in Lexington, Kentucky. We will also offer competition in the Varsity division and Junior Varsity division (pending entry counts) of cross-examination debate as well as an open division of public forum debate.
We will be using the new middle school as well as the high school, which should eliminate the use of cramped spaces for the Lincoln-Douglas debate rounds. Registration will take place from 12:00-1:30 PM on Friday, October 10th in the auditorium at the high school. If you are not registered by 1:30 PM on Friday you will not be debating in the first round of the tournament! We have removed the entry limits of all the divisions as well.
We will offer housing for the first 200 students requesting housing. If you need Thursday or Saturday evening housing, please let me know by Monday, September 29th, 2008. We will provide dinner on Friday and lunch on Saturday. Breakfast will be available for a small fee. The coaches and (adults only) judge’s lounge is provided by our wonderful parents’ group. As always, we strive to have the best judge’s lounge in the Northeast. The snow gods should be good to us at this time of year as well.
The following pages contain pertinent information for our 21st Annual Invitational. Monticello is looking forward to sharing our hospitality with you. All housing and registration materials are due by 3:00 PM, Thursday, October 2nd, 2008. If you have any questions you may call me at school (845) 794-8840, email me at sgraham@k12mcsd.net or fax me at (845) 794-8133.
We hope you can add our tournament to your 2008-2009 calendars.
Sincerely,
Sabrina Graham
