South Texas Schools:

 

The 2012 South Texas NFL District speech/debate tournament will be held March 8, 9 and 10, 2012 at George Ranch High School.  All entries for the tournament must be made on this Joy of Tournaments website no later than March 1, 2012.  NFL entry sheets including signatures of coaches, students and administrators should be in the hands of the district chairman no later than March 1, 2012.  The entry sheets can be mailed to Jay Stubbs Bellaire High School  5100 Maple  Bellaire, TX 77401, e-mailed to BellaireDebate@sbcglobal.net or faxed to 713-295-3739.  Entry sheets must be complete in every way including interp titles and publication information. 

 

Original Oratory:  Per the NFL District Operations Manual each orator's scripts are to be received by the District Chair no later than two weeks prior to the district tournament.   Orations should be sent no later than February 23, 2012 via e-mail BellaireDebate@sbcglobal.net or by mail (Jay Stubbs 5100 Maple Bellaire, TX 77401).  The script must identify the quoted materials, state the number of quoted words, include a works cited page in A.P.A. or M.L.A. format, and both the orator and the coach must attest by signature that the oration is the original work of the contestant. 

 

A scheduling meeting will be held at Bellaire High School in room 011 starting at 4:00pm on Wednesday, March 7.  The scheduling meeting will also double as early registration for the tournament.  All coaches are encouraged to attend.

 

Double entries are allowed. Students may only enter one team event (one extemp only).  Should a student qualify in a team event he/she must compete at nationals in that event.

 

All outstanding NFL national fees must be paid by March 8th or you will not be allowed to compete.  All NFL District fees must be paid by March 8th.  If you have any questions regarding the tournament please write to BellaireDebate@sbcglobal.net
