2012 Inland Empire NFL District Tournament
Dates: 3/1/2012 - 3/3/2012

Dear NFL Coaches:

As you are aware the time is rapidly approaching to qualify students for the National Speech and Debate tournament.  Specifically you must have all Original Oratories (see the Events Tab for more info) to me by February 17.

Official entry forms can be found at http://www.nflonline.org/AboutNFL/LeagueManuals (NOTE:  You may download a "prepopulated" registration sheet from the [Entries] page of this website after you have registered your team.)  If you have trouble finding them, please let me know.

This year the National Qualifying Tournament for congress, speech and debate will be held at Lake City High School on March 1-3, 2012.  There are directions to the high school and Lake City Community Church (which will be used for Congress Sessions) on the TAB marked Directions.

The schedule of events is listed under another TAB. This is a new schedule that we are trying based on a schedule that we received from one of the coaches on the Westside.  We are hoping that it will alleviate the conflicts between PF and LD, as well as allow us to use the judges in a more efficient manner.  It also allows us to keep the tournament to one weekend which will hopefully increase entries from the schools that are travelling.  Remember that this is just a “pilot” year on this schedule.

Judge requirements may be found on the Judge Info TAB.  Please make sure you read all of the requirements prior to registering your students.

All information regarding the events rules can be found in the tournament manual (at the above link).  Specific reminders are included at the Events Tab.

Topics to be used for each type of debate and a reminder that we will be using the WSFA Spring Legislation are all located under the Debate Topics TAB.

Fees and info related to the judging bond are listed under the Fees TAB.

In order for students to participate in the tournament, students must be current NFL members.  The number of entries you can have is based on the number of members and degrees that you have on file with the NFL.  To check your record, you may login to the NFL website.  You can look at the tournament manual online to see how many entries you may have based on your members and degrees (see the link above).  Schools must have recorded all NFL points at least 7 days prior to the date of the tournament.  This means that ALL points must be recorded by February 23, 2012.  Recording points is necessary in order to determine how many students from your school may participate.   Because I will be transferring all registration to the online portion of Joy of Tournaments there is no longer any need to provide proof of registration.  It would help tremendously if you would fax me your registration as soon as you have it worked out.  Fax is (208)769-2944.

WE CAN NOT ALLOW STUDENTS TO COMPETE IF I DO NOT HAVE YOUR GREEN SHEETS IN HAND PRIOR TO THE TOURNAMENT, COMPLETELY FILLED OUT.   (NOTE:  You may download a "prepopulated" registration sheet from the [Entries] page of this website after you have registered your team.)

I AM NOT ALLOWED TO ENTER ANYONE INTO THE TOURNAMENT LESS THAN 48 HOURS BEFORE THE START OF THE TOURNAMENT OTHER THAN SUBSTITUTIONS FROM YOUR ALTERNATES LIST FOR THE EVENT WHERE A STUDENT IS BEING DROPPED.  IT WILL BE TOO LATE ON THE DATE OF THE TOURNAMENT TO DISCOVER THAT WE’RE ONE SHORT IN ORATORY.

I look forward to seeing you at the National Qualifying Tournament on March 1-3, 2012.

Sincerely Yours,

Kara Smith
Inland Empire District Chair
