February 1, 2012 Dear Coaches:
It’s time once again to get geared up for the 2012 Southern Oregon National Forensic Tournaments. Please read the invitation carefully, and be sure you're meeting NFL's rules (mostly all the same as last year). As always, if you have any questions, please contact me or any other member of the tournament committee. Qualifier Reuirements: In order to send 2 qualifiers to Nationals, we need 14 speakers in solo events and 10 in partnered events. I know we can get there, so let's make sure we bring enough speakers. Student of the Year: NFL sent us a trophy this year for District Student of the Year, so let's nominate. Each school attending the NFL tournaments may nominate one speaker for the honor. Bring the form with you (on the NFL website or check the checklist tab here). All submissions are due at registration. The nominated student will be placed into competition for the National Student of the Year, to be awarded at NFL Nationals. At the district meet, I will make all the nominees available for review and ranking by each competing school. Finally, there are a lot of cosmetic changes in the NFL manuals, but not a lot of substantive changes. Please check it out -- I think you'll find it much easier to sort through. Yet again, the district congress has some changes in how it runs.
