DEBATE: @ Norfolk High School Friday, March 2 and Saturday, March 3
Entries
Each school is allotted so many entries as per their degree strength (if you have questions about how many entries you have refer to the Chapter Manual which can be found on the NFL website). Remember that the quota is combined for speech and debate. Also, Policy/Public Forum/Duo only count as one entry.
Each Debate entry will cost $50.00 (PF and Policy count as one entry)
If you think you’re going to have reserve entries PLEASE make sure they’re listed on the Green Sheet!
Along with the GREEN sheet, you MUST enter online at www.joyoftournaments.com. You may download a pre-populated registration sheet from the [Entries] tab of this website once you register your team.
Hospitality
Each school will be charged an additional $30.00 for the food provided in the Judges/Coaches Lounge—this can be added to your entry check. This is separate from the Speech Hospitality Fee. Therefore, if you have Speech and Debate entries, you will owe $60.00 for your hospitality fee. You should just include this fee in paying your total entry fees, on the same check.
Judging/Judges
Each head coach is obligated to judge 3 rounds prior to being paid by the NE South District---after your 3rd round, they will pay the per round fee as listed for hired judges.
Hired judges will be paid $20.00 per LD and PF round; $25.00 per Policy round or a guarantee of $40.00 per day.
We need judges, and we need their information entered online at www.tinyurl.com/nebqualifiers. This will then give us all the information we need regarding availability, restrictions, etc. on one google document spreadsheet which both districts can utilize. It is important the judges get this done by February 10, if possible, and Feb. 17, at the latest.
For this tournament, schools should anticipate getting rooms in Norfolk for their judges overnight if they will be there for both days of competition. I realize this adds extra expense, but Chris Begeman has negotiated some good deals for us on hotels, and you will not be paying your judges this weekend. I know I will be getting probably two rooms total for my judges, but I am going to be packing them in (3-4 per room).
Start Time
Norfolk will not be having school on Friday, March 2 so there should be no problem with parking when you arrive.
We are planning for registration from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m.
Our aim is to have rounds start @ 3:30 p.m. instead of the usual 4 p.m. so that we can be ending a bit earlier on Friday evening.
