January 10, 2012
Dear NFL Coaches:
You and your NFL students are invited to attend the Hoosier Crossroads-Heartland first qualifying meet (debate) of 2012 to be held Friday, January 27 and Saturday, January 28 at West Lafayette High School. We expect Friday registration to begin at 4:30 and end at 5:15. Round one will begin as close to 5:30 as is possible, and the first Saturday morning round will begin at 8:15. a.m.
As in previous years, you will login to the program twice. The FIRST login is the JOY login that is the same as you used last year (If you do not have a Joy of Tournaments login, click the “login” link and then click “Create New Account”). The SECOND login is the NFL login that is used to register points with the NFL. Only the person at your school responsible for entering NFL points will be able to register for the tournament.
On the SQUAD page (this is the page where you select competitors), you will not be able to add or remove students. The students listed come directly from the NFL and reflects available NFL members.
The ENTRIES page will display the chapter strength and number of entries allowed. The ENTRIES page also has a link for "ALLOCATION OF COACHING CREDIT POINTS". This information will be used for reporting to the NFL.
Finally, there is a link after you have made your entries called "NFL DISTRICT REGISTRATION FORM". This form will allow you print out a GREEN SHEET with students names already typed in! (it's the little things). This sheet must be filled out and SIGNED when you come to registration on Friday.
The cost this year is still five dollars per student (CX and Public Forum teams will cost $10). You will need to bring a check payable to Hoosier Heartland NFL. If you owe any fees to the National organization, they must be RECEIVED by the National office prior to the competition. If not, you may bring a check made out to the HCNFL or HHNFL which we will send in on Monday for you. If we don’t pay all the fees to the National office within 48 hour of the meet, they invalidate our winners!
You need to bring one judge for every two students you enter. Remember you may enter more judges that we would be happy to pay. All judges that you are brining should be entered into the computer program. It saves us a lot of time on setup day. We have no rule at NFL on the number of years a student must be out to judge.
Come and join us to qualify our first Crossroads and Heartland students for the 2012 National Tournament in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Hope to see you,
Gregg, Matt and the Hoosier Crossroads and Heartland Committees
