Congress Invitation and Information

                                   

Dear Colleague:

 

You and your squad are cordially invited to attend the Heart of Texas National Forensic League Congress Meet on February 25, 2012, at Westwood HS for qualification to the NFL National Tournament to be held June 13-18 in Indianapolis, Indiana. If you would like to participate and have not yet joined NFL as an affiliate, I urge you to do so immediately.  You can find the necessary forms online at http://www.nflonline.org/AboutNFL/LeagueManuals.  These forms must be submitted before you can record points, which will enable you to enter the tournament.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact one of the NFL District Committee members listed below.  We hope to see you in Austin in February.

          Jan. 31       Submit entry numbers in Congress to rrdebbie@hotmail.com

          Feb. 18        Final entry is due on Joy of Tournaments

          Feb. 18        Official entry form with signatures must be faxed to

          Feb. 22        4:30 p.m.  Add/Drop deadline.

 

Entering Points:

If you have not submitted all NFL points for your students, please do so at your earliest convenience in order to finalize your members and degrees on record for entry slots.  I encourage you to fill all of your available slots so as to give the greatest number of students from our District the opportunity to qualify for Nationals.  Your members and degrees on record 7 days prior to the District Tournament and Congress will officially determine your number of slots for each of these Tournaments.  You can find the number of slots allowed for your school at http://www.nflonline.org, (under ‘Resources’ select ‘Membership Reports’, then select ‘District’, then choose ‘Heart of Texas’ and ‘Search’.)

 

The formula for calculating qualifying numbers to Nationals is as follows (based on numbers actually participating in first round):

Congress House                      Cong Senate

16-29 students=1qual            2 provided

30-60 students=2 quals          there are at

61-90 students=3 quals          least 8 schools

91+ students=4 quals             participating

 

Tournament Administration:

Diane Forbes will be the Congress Director.  Tabulation will be based upon judges' ranks.
