Dear Friends & Colleagues,

It is time again to begin planning and preparing for the Eastern Ohio NFL District Tournament! As you know, the tournament will be held at GlenOak High School. On Thursday, February 18, 2010, we will meet at GlenOak HS for our Coaches' Meeting and Registration. Competition will be at GlenOak HS on Friday, February 19 and Saturday, February 20, 2010.

Please read all of the enclosed information carefully. Be aware of all deadlines and pay all of your NFL fees! Please bring any questions, concerns or objections to our attention. We will get answers, solve problems and dispense advise quickly, honestly and freely!

1) We will have a coaches’ meeting and registration at GlenOak High School on Thursday, February 18, 2009 at 5:00 pm. All participating schools must be represented.

2) All rounds in speech & debate will have three judge panels. It is essential that we complete three rounds of debate on Friday night.

3) In order to facilitate tournament operations, we will utilize the following judge policies.

A) In all events, parents, relatives and 2009 grads will be allowed to judge that event until semi-finals in speech; until the last eight debaters/teams in debate events.

B) We will not have a strike policy in any event.

C) Coaches may lodge a written protest against a judge(s) by Thursday, February 18 at the Coaches' Meeting. Valid supporting documentation must be provided. The District Committee will rule on all judge protests at the meeting.

4) All rounds in all events are open to observation. Competitors may not observe until they have been eliminated from competition. Judges may not observe until released. In debate there will be no “flowing” by any observer in any round.

5) Joy of Tournaments will be used to run the tournament.

6) Penny Harris will serve as Speech Coordinator. Ron Nuzzolillo will serve as Debate Coordinator. Sue Theisen and Kara Prentice will serve as Judge Coordinators. Ned Lauver & John Weaver will serve as Ombudspersons.

7) A list of tournament work assignments is included. We need all workers to be available both days of the tournament. If you cannot be available or if you prefer to judge, please let me know.

8) We need judges! However, we also want to maximize our registration. Please talk to me if you want to bring competitors but are having difficulty fulfilling the judge ratios. We want kids to compete!!!!
